Authentication fails when imap server is changed
« on: February 07, 2014, 07:55:46 pm »
For an email address of "me @ mydoman . net", the recommended settings for my email server is "mail . serverxxx . com" rather than "imap . mydoman . net", however, if I change the server name from the default that Aguamail creates, it fails to authenticate. Same with the smtp server. I would like to use "mail . serverxxx . com" rather than "imap . mydomain . net" and "smtp . mydomain . net". (sorry for the spacing in the example domains, it won't post otherwise.)

You may want to change the actual logins on the incoming / outgoing server detailed settings pages.

AquaMail will send whatever login / password you've configured it with, for both incoming and outgoing server, and certainly does not have any "magic" hand-holding rules about .net / .com. Just enter whatever your servers need to authenticate.
