How do i write in a save draft without clicking edit?

Hi

In yahoo mail i go to Drafts and i open something i saved there and i can write and it is like a normal email

When i open it in Aquamail it is like it has been forwarded and if i started to write i am not writing in my saved email it's like i am writing replying that forwarded email.  If I want  to write in my email that i draft i have to click on the pencil

Any ideas?

I had got the same experience. But if you click on the edit pencil once and then save the draft, the next time you open this draft you can edit your message as expected.

Nope, not a bug. Working as intended.

The original draft (started in another app, synced from server) may contain arbitrary HTML, including something that my rich text editor won't be able to handle it.

So in order to preserve your carefully made styling (Thunderbird, Outlook, web mail), I show the original message separately, so it won't get messed up.

Any new text you add above will be merged with the existing text, as usual.

However, please note that:

- The subject doesn't get changed the way it does when replying / forwarding (no "Re:" or "Fwd:")

- The original text doesn't get indented and doesn't get the replying / forwarding header ("such and such on this date wrote:")

So, the original message text, coming from another mail app, with possibly very nice complex formatting, will be preserved exactly as is. That's the idea here.

With very few exceptions (single digits per year), I am sending plain text e-mails.
While I understand your rational now, and it makes sense (even though it's a judgement call), - it is only limited to the HTML/Rich-text based messages.
Would it be possible to simplify the procedure for the plain-text messages?

Yes, but not everyone is like that.

No, because a lot of people don't even understand the distinction, and I'll be getting questions about why it's "sometimes like that and sometimes like this" (existing draft content showing "quoted" for formatted vs. dumped right into the edit control for plain text).
