Unable to Send Exchange Email - Network Error

I am unable to send mail through my exchange server on a brand new install of Aquamail. My account connects fine and I am able to receive and sync, except when there is an outbound message. I get an error popup "Error synchronizing mail: network error". In the notification bar I see "Error submitting outgoing mail".

Inbound and folder sync is perfect. no issues at all. Additionally, I can send and receive normally on Gmail, Outlook.com, and 2 Office 365 accounts

I have deleted and added the account several times. When I initially setup the account I get a popup error that says "Error synchronizing Calendar: Network Error", but it only happens once.

I have searched the forums and the only related item I have found indicates someone who had issues sending over wifi, but they were able to send on 4G. I am having the same issue on both Wifi and 4G.

I love aquamail and hate everyother mail app I have tried, so I want to get this working very badly.

UPDATE: Send appears to be intermittent. I have been able to send with certain destination email addresses. May be related to a specific malformed email address, although I cannot determine why it is failing or failing for more than one email address. Continuing to investigate.

Also, no update on the cause of network failure on calendar update. i have disabled that for now while I troubleshoot the mail send.

Network errors, by and large, are "genuine" -- not caused by the app, only reported.

And in general it can be anything -- the network provider between the phone and the mail server, or the mail server being very slow specifically for the EWS mail protocol (AquaMail's timeouts are very generous).

You may want to capture these issues in the apps' debug log, please see in my signature below.

I have captured the debug and provided it to one of the engineers in our outlook team for analysis. I am only seeing the issues with replying. If I type a new message to the same user, it goes through, but if I reply to the message they send me, it fails. This tells me perhaps the mail address is getting mangled somehow in reply.

Is there any modification going on to the reply address that I can turn off?

There isn't to my knowledge.

And then even if Exchange thinks that "something is wrong" - I'd expect there to be a more "reasonable" error code like "malformed address" or similar.

But if maybe they find something and something needs fixing in AquaMail - please let me know. At this point, since it's a network disconnect, I won't know what to change in the app (if anything).

It seems to happen with nearly all message replies. It doesn't even need to be external to the company or a multi-threaded message.

If I create a message to myself, say from Gmail to Exchange, I can reply. But when I get mail from another exchange user, and reply, it fails. I cannot tell you what the official error is, only what Aqua is popping up on the screen.

There has to be something that the reply is doing to the return address that compose is not. I will try to work with my outlook engineering team tomorrow more to see if we can log something on that end.

Engineering was not able to determine anything on the outlook side. I will try and debug this weekend or next week and send the log to you.
