Desktop icon new message count
« on: December 29, 2014, 12:39:33 am »
I could have sworn there was an option to enable new message count to show up on the icon on the desktop.  I just had to reimage my tablet.  After reinstalling AquaMail, I just can't find this option.

Help please.

Thanks.

Are you asking how to display the message count on app icon or are you willing to show only next unread message count?
What kind of tablet are you uding?
Are you using a specific launcher?

I'm trying to get the app icon to display the number of unread messages.  I have a Sony Xperia Z tablet.  I'm not sure what you mean in your last question.

Thanks.

This works pretty well with Samsung devices. I don't know if this works with other devices.

It was working on my Sony too.  Maybe the latest Android release broke it......  I recently upgraded to 4.4.4 (within the last few days).

It's also working fine with my Sony Xperia Z3 -  with Android 4.4.4  - :)

Try to remove and restore AquaMail's desktop icon.  It should show new message count "automatically".  If it still doesn't work restart your device could help.

Furthermore you will find an option in Settings  > Message notifications > Notify about  > you can choose between All unread messages or New unread messages

Hope this will solve your 'issue '.

Vendor-specific unread counters (and Aqua supports Sony, LG, and Samsung):

- Work only in stock launcher

- Is a feature -- for all three of these vendors -- that was never intended to be used by third party apps (for vendor's own apps only).

As such, it may not work with some particular system software versions, etc.

Official supported:

Apex Launcher Pro, Nova Launcher Prime, Smart Launcher
Aqua's own "message counter" and "message list" widgets

As mentioned in my previous post the desktop counter is working pretty good with my Sony Xperia Z3 (phone) / on Android 4.4.4

In addition to that please check if the option "Launcher icon counter" is also enabled.

You will find this option in the same settings > Message notifications > scroll down to the very last menu item (this is only for Samsung/LG/Sony launchers)
> see screenshot

No chance at all whatsoever.

Options: Apex Launcher Pro, Nova Launcher Prime, Smart Launcher 2 -- or -- app's own widgets which work with any launcher, come in several themes, and can be set to point to a particular account or folder.

I'm using Apex Pro and I think stock launchers are not so interesting, Aquamail can't be the principal reason to adopt new launchers, but I suggest to take one for a lot of benefits, features and esthetic...
Note unread counter (Aquamail app icon) in dock bar...
