Conversation view shows wrong last person
« on: January 23, 2018, 06:15:01 pm »
I did a quick search in the forums and could not find a related subject. Please let me know if this has been reported before and I'll join this mention to that thread;

Here's my issue: I've had a hard time finding my emails when on AM and some times I have to go back to the Microsoft's outlook app on my Windows PC.

Please note how the remitent on the left-hand side (No. 1) shows MY name, when the most-recent writer is actually Ara de la Torre who properly appears in the sender's name on the left-hand pane (No. 2).

Is there a way to force search results to appear as non-conversations? This might make individual emails easier to find.

thanks,

quick comment on this, I just realized this is happening all accross the Sent folder.

please note the 3 emails in the conversation view. I forwarded an email to 6 people, 4 To: and 2 CC:.

The earliest email (lowest black arrow) is the email I originally received and was written by a 3rd party but appears as written by me.
2nd-to-last email (no arrow), appears written by Arturo when that is actually MY email forwarded to Arturo and 5 others.
most recent email (top-most black arrow), again appears as mine, when actually,  it's a response from an addressee other than Arturo.

Is this by design? it feels unintuitive and very difficult to find specific emails.

hope this is helpful.

Sergio Papini is you, correct?

In message view we detect if a message is "from you" and show the first recipient instead.

In expanded conversations we don't - that way an expanded conversation looks more like a conversation:

[ you ]
[ someone else ]
[ you again ]
[ someone else again ]

Yup, that's me. Pleasure to meet you.

So here is a conversation seen from the Sent folder:

Name at the bottom shows Alejandro Israel, but that's the first recipient. The author is actually someone named Aida.

Similarly, the second-to-last email appears with the name Aida, but this email was written by Alejandro and the first recipient is Aida.

The idea of changing who's name appears as remitent in the Sent folder could be useful if it's a two person conversation. Otherwise, Aquamail users need to tap on individual emails to see who actually wrote what and to whom.

As an additional example, the email with the Yellow E (4th email in the thread) is me forwarding the email to Emmanuel and others. The next email, with my name on it, isn't from me but addressed to me and others. In order to know who wrote that email, I need to click on the email and see the header.

In my case, I'm not finding the modified view for the Sent folder particularly useful. I'm sure there are plenty of users that do.

My request would be to make the reversed Sent view optional and something I could toggle on and off so all conversations look the same in Inbox, Archive and Sent folders.

Thanks,

And you were CC'd on those or included in the To list?

Do you perhaps have Aida's and Alejandro's accounts set up in Aqua? Maybe as aliases?

To my knowledge, I'm the only one using Aquamail in my organization (for now).

Those are individual emails, none are aliases.

And yes, I'm cc in all the emails that appear in the thread.

And are those messages, in Aqua Mail, in an incoming type folder - or did you move them into Sent?

Neither. That's how a conversation appears once emails are rendered through the Sent view.
All emails are either in the Inbox, Archive or Sent folder.

It's one the best features Aquamail has; it can link conversations even if emails are scattered across folders.

I could look for the screenshot conversation and point out which email is in which folder, but they should all be in the Archive folder.
