Outlook.com IMAP Server not available
« on: December 08, 2015, 04:38:53 pm »
Hello from Germany,

first I want so say thank you, for the best Email-Client for Android I´ve ever worked with.

Since 3 days, a friend of mine and me having permanent Problems (Connection error) with sending E-mail via Outlook.com (IMAP). Other Providers and Receiving works fine.

Can anyone help me with this Problem? I suspect, it`s a Microsoft Server Problem.

...thank you for your Attention!

Viv

Hi Viv,

Yes, you are right.

Microsoft has a whole new API for Office 365 / Outlook.com / Hotmail.

More information about this matter you will find in AquaMail's (Beta) community in Google+:

and at Microsofts "Developer Center":

Aloha Mike,

thx a lot for your quick and accurate response. Unfortunately, I do not really know, what that means for me.
Since I work with Outlook anyway, I installed the same named App 2.0 today and it works fine.

Let`s see, how it works in daily business....

Greetings and thank you again...

Viv

I think what @mikeone was implying (correct me if I'm wrong) is that:

Every time someone rolls out some new thing, some old thing breaks.

Another user reported login issues with Hotmail on a new phone, with same account continuing to work fine on the old one.

And then in morning the issue went away, it just started working.

So maybe -- just give it a bit of time, and see if the issue goes away.

And just in case:

1 - Please make sure that AquaMail settings -> network -> "Use DNS" is enabled (top item, is enabled by default)

2 - May be worth changing the incoming server setting in AquaMail from

imap-mail.outlook.com

to

imap.glbdns2.microsoft.com

The former is a "synonym" for the latter, which is the "real" server name. The change will save one iteration during DNS lookup, may help.
