lollipop notifications
« on: November 19, 2014, 02:26:42 pm »
Is there a way of removing the heads up notifications on Android 5 lollipop but keep the other notifications. I like to have notifications in the drawer and so don't want to disable them but I get a lot of spam on my domain's email address and I'm seeing the floating notification every few minutes. I believe this is set by the developer in priority settings. Is there a way to override this?

Also, is it possible to have the push mail icon show in the unlocked state in the notification bar but not have to have it live permanently on the lock screen? I have the paid version of aquamail.

I imagine these requests are more for Google to sort out but thought I'd ask in case I'm missing something.

Aqua's notifications use the default priority -- the code doesn't set the priority at all, let alone "high priority".

I fully agree that the default logic for showing all notifications on the lock screen -- without any user control -- is... strange.

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this board and somehow I am not able / allowed to post (e.g. in section feature request)
So I decided to post it here - as it is related to AquaMail Notifications (for Lollipop) on the LockScreen.

I searched on the board but somehow Lollipop is not that common yet.

My Question:
Is there a way to adjust the Notification to transparency or a different color?

At present the notifications are dark text on white backgrounds?
So is there a feature to do so? Or Is this not yet implemented (a feature request?)

Please let me know!

cheers

Yes, Android designers at Google decided that notifications in 5.0 are dark text on light background. It's a system-wide change.

http://developer.android.com/about/versions/android-5.0-changes.html#BehaviorNotifications

Quote
Notifications are drawn with dark text atop white (or very light) backgrounds to match the new material design widgets. Make sure that all your notifications look right with the new color scheme.

It has happened before -- from 2.2 (dark on white) to 2.3 (light on black).

Kostya,

thx for the response ..

Sorry if I missed it ...

but will you implement a setting  to adjust it or fix the appearance of the notifications?

>> implement a setting  to adjust

Sorry if I failed to explain but...

Google's designers changed the styling of notifications in Android 5.0.

They are now: dark text on light background.

The change is intentional, "it's more elegant, subtle, yet intuitive, and easy to read" (or some such, I'm making it up, but I'm sure they had a reason).

Changed in Android.

In Android.

Android.

Android 5.0.

Changed.

By Google.

Intentionally.

Because they think it's better.

Feel free to file a bug report / request at http://b.android.com (which will almost certainly be closed with "working as intended", but it never hurts to try).
