local limit of 100 is not working

Hello,

I have set local email limit for my PoP3 account as 100. Clicking on the accounts then options and folders there setting Message Locate Limit. But I still see that there are 122 emails. Can you please explain how this limit works and what is the behaviour when i set limit to 50 and i receive new messages.

The number of recent messages the app looks when checking mail at is the "Messages per page" setting.

The setting you're referring to comes into play when you delete messages using some other mail app, and then open an older message in mine (which could have shifted its number on the server because other messages have been deleted). If you see the error message "the message was deleted from the server" when it wasn't, that's when increasing the "locate" setting would make sense.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply, but i have an issue. I have set the configuration in my outlook to leave email for 1 week for my PoP3 account. Now its been more than a week and old emails are deleted in Server. How ever the emails downloaded onto Aquamails are still there and list is now more than 500 emails. This is really creating problem as my email lists is growing.

Is there a way to have exactly same emails or maximum "N" emails more than that of server. My average email rate is about 50-60 emails per day.

Hi,

The number of messages stored locally in the app is the "Messages to keep" setting, the default is 250. This is under each account's Options and Folders, and there can be a per-folder override (the settings icon to the right of the folder name, on the same screen, below).

The app should maintain this limit automatically, but you might wan to use Menu / Compact message store in the main window (account list) to see if this helps.
