search server-side in all folders possible?

I know I can do a server-side search in a message list/folder,
but is it possible to search server-side in all folders?

I'm using gmail

because, if you mean that, I don't use it, I don't have it shown in IMAP

Ok, didn't know that. Folder "all mail" is enabled for shown in IMAP for me.

Yes but the "All Mail" folder is Gmail specific.

As for Aqua's "search in all account / folders", that does not search the mail server(s).

It is popping up in the search results:
"Search all loaded"

However, the app is searching only within the downloaded (cached) messages, not on the server.

thanks, I switched on "all mail" label, because I think it's a must for these searches after all

AquaMail is able to perform a server-side search in a selected folder. Need it often.

why is it possible to get search results for a part of an email address in sent folder and not in "all emails"?

i.e. I want to search mail from/to user e.g. "user1" (I don't remember the after the "@" part),
I get results when searching in sent folder, but not in "all email" folder

I tried the "from:user1" search in "all email", didn't work either,

can someone shed some light here?

edit: ok, I found that,I needed to use wildcard % at the end

It's weird, since you mention All Mail I suppose it's a GMail account - and that's it's also server side search. Then this really is a question for Google

When sending search commands to IMAP server(s), Aqua doesn't "mangle" the search term in any way...

the strange thing is that I had to use "%" as a wildcard, while google said that the asterisk "*' should be the wildcard
