Keep messages unread
« on: December 17, 2012, 09:08:07 pm »
Hello,

i'm missing a feature that's very important for me:

I didn't want to miss checking mails while being on the move. But I respond to most of my mails at home from my PC and not from my phone.
So it would be really nice to keep messages unread. Most of the mail clients I know from Windows (Thunderbird, Outlook) have that option.

Would be really nice if you could think about integrating that feature in future version.

Greetings Johnny

Like Abbie, I want my phone to check emails but still when I get back to my office I want my email client on my PC to go to the POP and get all my unread emails. So I don't want my phone to mark them as "READ".

PS I joined because this topic is a top priority for me with my new Galaxy phone.

Hi,

POP3 has no way to back-sync message states from the app to the server, so having those messages marked read in the app won't affect the server or other mail apps.

Still, there is a setting (in the app's settings, Extended mode -- top item) under "Message view" to choose how quickly messages are marked read. The default is "immediate", but "never" is also available.

Hi,

The problem with the never mark read option is there is no way to later mark a message as read. Or am I missing something? it would be nice to be able to do this.

Hello,

i'm sorry for the late reply. Thanks you very much for your answer.

I'm using IMAP, so your poiting to the right options helped me out. I don't know how often I searched for that option and was still too stupid to find it.

Thanks.
