Whenever I reply to a message with a given identity, that identity sticks until I send another message with a different identity.

This is annoying, because I want it to do one of the below:

1. Have AquaMail revert to a default identity I've set, even if I've changed it for the last email
2. Have the ability to set the current identity without sending an email

I tag my email, so almost all emails I write are with a different identity.  However, I have a "main" email identity I want to revert to in most cases.
To do this, I end up having to change to this main identity, and then sending a message, otherwise that identity doesn't stick.

Is there any way to switch identities so that it sticks, without having to send a message with it?
Is there any way to set a default identity that is reverted to after an email is sent with a different identity?
