'Mark messages as read' setting not working on POP3

Since the last update, AquaMail is no longer respecting the 'Mark messages as read' setting for POP3 accounts.  I normally have this set to 'Never automatically', but messages are being immediately marked as read when opening them.  I have tried other options ('After x seconds', 'Upon closing') but none of them are respected - messages are always marked as read upon opening.

I have several email accounts, all of them either POP3 or IMAP.  I have confirmed that the issue affects all of the POP3 accounts, and none of the IMAP accounts (for example I have multiple outlook.com accounts, some mapped as IMAP and some as POP3, and it only affects the POP3 accounts).

Running AquaMail v1.50.0-429 on Android 14.  Issue began in the last couple days, since I last updated.

We have no other reports on this.

I have conducted tests on my POP3 account and was not able to reproduce the issue.

Is it possible that the messages are read elsewhere? (App, web, etc)?

Try clearing the Aqua Mail cache from device settings>apps>Aqua Mail>storage

If the above doesn't work, do a fresh install. Make sure you do a backup first: https://aquamail.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/77000531791-how-to-use-the-backup-restore-feature-imap-pop3-emails-backup-

I have tried a backup, uninstall, reinstall, restore backup... no change to issue.  I have the read option set to 'Never automatically', but messages are immediately marked as read when opening (I can see the title change from bold to unbold on-screen when I open the message).

Not sure what else to tell you - I've been using AM for 10 years and this just started happening a few days ago.  The messages are definitely not being read elsewhere (it's POP3 right, so I'd invite you to consider how the message changing to Read the instant I open it in Aquamail could be anything other than an Aquamail problem).
