Very high battery drain

Most days (but NOT all) Aqua Mail has extremly high battery usage (less than 1 Minute SOT, usually about 2 Minutes background usage). In these cases it´s shown to use about 27-33% of battery (my Podcasting App, which downloads & plays Audio in the background sits at about 8% of total usage).
I did not change any settings, it used to work totally finde with about 1-2% battery usage in the background.

I already reinstalled, cleared cache, updated, etc. several times - the issue persists.
WIFI or mobile Data seems not to make a huge difference.

Device is a Pixel 8, Android 14 (latest security Update is installed)

Is anybody else having this issue?
