Need Help - Can not get Aquamail 1.31.0-1857 to install in Android

Have used aquamail for about 9 months without issues. Use it for hotmail/outlook only. Recently had server error issues and I re-installed the app from Playstore.

The phone is a Motorola 'Moto e5 play' The Software Channel is: 'cc'
Using Android version 8.0.0 and the build number is ' OPPS27.91-121-28 '
Security Patch level: May 1,2020


I still get the following:

Account check error
'Incoming mail server (IMAP) Invalid server response. Please make sure your settings are correct.'

I have then attempted to install it manually and I am not clear on what to enter and continue to get error messages.

For the incoming server (imap-mail.outlook.com) the choices are:

Security type        Server Port
not encrypted         143
SSL(strict check)     993
SSL(accept any)       993
STARTTLS(strictcheck) 143
STARTTLS(accept only) 143

There is also the option to check The Folder prefix box as 'Automatic'



For the SMTP server (stmp-mail.outlook.com) the choices are:

Security type        Server Port
not encrypted         587
SSL(strict check)     465
SSL(accept any)       465
STARTTLS(strictcheck) 587
STARTTLS(accept only) 587

There are two option boxes to check. 'No Outgoing server' and 'Override when on WIFI'

I would appreciate whatever help or guidance anyone can give me.

I suggest looking for Outlook's IMAP and SMTP settings via a Google search and using what they say should be used.

The closest match I could find came up in something called cpureport. (I'm sorry but it won't let me post a link Here.)


Anyway, they showed TLS instead of STARTTLS for port 587   on the SMTP server

The incoming server showed SSL with port 993

When I tried those settings I still received the same Invalid server response error.

I  have no idea what pureport is, or why it even came up in a search.

A simple Google search for "outlook smtp settings" brought this as the first hit

I did actually run that search after your previous note and then went to that first hit. It led to this dropdown

If you want to add your Outlook.com account to another email program that supports POP or IMAP, here are the manual server settings you'll need.

Notes:

Incoming and outgoing server details are the same.

POP access is disabled by default. To enable POP access, see Enable POP access in Outlook.com below.

Outlook.com does not require Secure Password Authentication (SPA).

IMAP server name outlook.office365.com

IMAP port 993

IMAP encryption method TLS

POP server name outlookdotoffice365dotcom

POP port 995

POP encryption method TLS

SMTP server name smtp-mail dot outlook dot com

SMTP port 587

SMTP encryption method STARTTLS


These values still do not work. It processed about 30 seconds and came back 'Timeout error' as opposed to the invalid server previously noted. Perhaps that's an improvement. ???

As I mentioned I have used aquamail for about 9 months and never had any issues prior to now. I use automatic updates so I'm wondering if it is something buggy in this past update.  ???
