Outlook oath2 authentication stopped working yesterday

My Hotmail/Outlook stopped syncing yesterday. Even today, if I tried to force a refresh, I would get a toast message saying "BAD user is authenticated but not connected." I deleted and re-added the account and it still would not load. So I was forced to add the account manually with an app password instead of oath2 authentication. Is anyone else having this kind of problem?

Yes. I had the same situation, and I did what you had done to access the account.


Edit: Until a fix is found; delete the account then manually create (by pressing the Other mail button) Hotmail/Outlook account.

Have any of you checked to see if authentication is doing the same thing in the Hotmail/Outlook web UI?

Three people reporting the same thing with Hotmail/Outlook makes me think the issue is not with AM.

Hi everyone,

After gathering up some info and looking through all reports, it seems this was a Microsoft problem specifically with the OAUTH2 API (or servers for the OAUTH2 service) that caused the problem. It began September 24th and was resolved by Microsoft this morning (September 27th).

You should be able to login/sync as normal but in case the problem persists, please remove your account and re-add it as Other Mail instead of the Hotmail/Outlook.com option.
