Newbie questions

1.  Purchasing the PRO

We have been using the Samsung email app and have now installed Aquamail from the APK file. If we purchase the pro version of Aquamail, can it be done WITHOUT using Google play services ?  Also, if we purchase the pro, how do we get updates WITHOUT using Google play services ?

2.  Old messages in Aquamail

I saw an article in the FAQ where it stated old messages are deleted, and that there are a maximum of 250 messages stored on the device.  Is there settings to override this.

3. Importing emails from the Samsung email app

Although we have been using Samsung email, it was set not to download emails from the server, so we should be able to simply change the
Aquamail settings to download all those emails from the server into Aquamail. We are currently testing Aqualmail and have been able to POP3 and send messages okay.

Can we import emails from the Samsung email app to Aquamail ?  Obviously we have to export from the Samsung email app and then import to Aquamail. But I need to know if it is possible and what format to use on the export please.

1) If you purchase the pro version MobiSystems can send you the pro unlock APK app and it doesn't require Google services (I don't think even the Google Play version does as it uses your email address in the app to confirm your licence).

2) Looks like the max cached messages size is 10000 (See attached screenshot). Just remember the larger the size the more space it will take up on your phone.

3) As far as I know no email app on Android can do this. All email is pulled from your email server.

Thanks for your reply.  :)

Okay thanks. What about the upgrades, how are they distributed if we have the Pro version please ?

Would that be per folder, or overall ?  What happens when the number of messages exceeds 10,000 ?  We want to have it setup so that all message deletion is manual.

I guess I assumed we can simply export from the Samsung emails and then import into Aquamail.  Yet it doesn't seem Aquamail has an import feature. There is a backup/restore. If that is data only we could see the format of the backup, and possibly add the required emails before doing the restore.

There is also a product called Samsung Smart Switch. I would post the link but this forum doesn't allow external links.

1) You would use the Aquamail APK (https://www.aqua-mail.com/download/), the pro APK would be sent from MobiSystems and it would be updated through the app. She of this really depends on how you purchased it. See FAQ - https://www.mobisystems.com/help-center/aqua-mail/?cat=277&qst=1595

2) These are cashed emails. Nothing is deleted unless you do it yourself. Most email inboxes cannot have the entire inbox downloaded to your phone due to storage limitations of your phone. No some of this may vary based off of POP3 as POP3 deleting of emails very on server settings and the client settings. I don't use POP3. Might want to look through the FAQ -Deleting messages in Aqua Mail but not the server - https://www.mobisystems.com/help-center/aqua-mail/?cat=244&qst=1138

3) You cannot migrate settings between different email apps on Android. You can't pull bookmarks between browsers on Android either (some browsers do allow exporting of bookmarks but this is rare but will not sync between each other).  Samsung Smart Switch is meant from switching from one phone to another and not on the same device. My quick research shows that it only backs up email for Outlook and maybe possibly the Samsung email app. Anyone with more Samsung Android experience maybe able to chime in here. The Aquamail Backup/Restore is for backing up and Restoring accounts and settings for Aquaman. See FAQ - https://www.mobisystems.com/help-center/aqua-mail/?cat=244&qst=1143

Thanks, that FAQ link has, as step 2,  the use of Google play store, which I don't want to use. I have had a reply from Aqua-Mail support, and certainly I can purchase the pro from Mobi Systems. As for updates, they can be obtained from Samsungs galaxy store or from releases on the comuunity forum at https://www.aqua-mail.com/forum/index.php?board=9.0

We are running Aqua-Mail on a tablet, so the storage limitations for a phone are quite different. All the emails are on the mail server and of course in Samsung email app. BUT there are of course a lot of sent messages in the Samsung app. It does seem the only method to have those sent messages in Aqual-Mail is to look into making an IMAP account, then ALL emails will be in the mail server. From there, I'm not sure whether to initially set the new Aqual_mail account to IMAP, retrieve all emails and then make it POP3.

Thanks for the clarification on using the Samsung Smart Switch, indicating that it is not suitable for this scenario.
