How to disable IMAP sync (or how do I keep access to messages moved to folders?)

Hi - I really like AM - but there's something that seems backward. 

If I move IMAP messages from my Inbox to deleted - I can still access them, but if I move them (using my PC) to folders, then they disappear from AM.  What I really want is to keep all messages that enter the inbox for, say,  2 weeks (unless I speciifically delete them).

Maybe there's a way to access the IMAP folders that I can't figure out?  It would be simpler, though, just to turn off sync so that everything collects in the InBox.

Either way, the current system doesn't make sense.  I can't access an Email that I received an hour ago if I moved it to a folder via my PC.

I'm sure the tool is smarter than this - what am I missing?

I don't think IMAP was thought to work like that. Why not access the folders where you store the mails you move in AM?
Maybe you use local client folders and in that case there is nothing to do I believe.

I think you're saying that - In Aquamail, I can access IMAP folders other than Inbox, Sent, and Deleted.  Great - I have been unable to figure out how to do that - how do I do that?

Long click on account, Options and folders and check the settings for the folders you want to keep in sync.

Right, the FAQ has step by step:

Long press the account name in the main window – choose “Options and folders”. Scroll down to the list of folders, tap one, choose how exactly it should be synced (most likely just “As incoming” since “special” folders like Sent, etc are usually set up automatically). Each incoming folder is presented in the UI separately.

This is only possible with IMAP (POP3 does not support access to individual folders).

And BTW:

It sounds like your desktop mail app uses IMAP, too, so it moving messages from INBOX to Deleted is reflected on the server, and then in my app.

Keeping all mail apps / devices in sync is what IMAP is one of IMAP's strong points, that's exactly what it was designed for.
