In-app purchase vs. play store unlocker
« on: July 17, 2019, 10:24:54 pm »
Hello,

About a month ago I downloaded aqua Mail and purchased the Pro version via the In-app purchase "upgrade to Pro" option.

The price for this was - and still is - 10,99€ (I double checked using a different Google account). A few weeks later, I noticed that there is an app called "Aqua Mail Pro Key" in the play store. The price for this is currently 20,99€.

So, at the time of me asking, there is a price difference of 10€ (about 50%) between the In-app purchase and the unlocker on the play store.

Why is that? Did I accidentally purchase a pro version with limitations by not going for the full unlocker in the play store?

I am in Germany, but that shouldn't matter as German prices would apply to both instances.

The In-app purchase did not mention anything about it being a monthly/quarterly license and the play store receipt for the in app purchase does not mention anything in this regard either. It only says "Aqua Mail Pro (Aqua Mail - Email App) (von Mobisystems)"

So this is actually my concern. Did I accidentally only purchase a timely limited license? That would be really irritating as it did not say anything about it not being a lifetime license. I am hoping to get feedback from the devs here, :)

This is what it says in germany when I acces the in-app purchase:

translated to "purchase: 10,99€"

So I assume this is not a limited license?

Fwiw, I also added a screenshot of the Google play page for the key

The Pro Key - in Google Play - in Germany has definitely "no ads" (= werbefrei). The price is 20,99€ currently.

At the end of June there was a promo action with a 50% price cut to € 10.99

I'm pretty sure that the price is the same for in-app purchase.

@parisgeek all the apps you mention are cloud based and have access to your data. Gmail only provides push for Gmail accounts and that too is unreliable. BlueMail still hasn't come out with a business plan and are not candid about how they pay for server costs. Same with Spark . Also Spark on Android is still very new and has a lot of bugs though as you hv mentioned before they have a great search feature. I am not a fan of how Mobisystems is managing Aquamail (tracking etc) but i think it is still the best email app on Android though i feel FairEmail is coming along nicely. I have shifted to FairEmail and will remain there till Mobisystems  gets rid of tracking etc.

You are a lucky guy. So maybe it's just a typo made by MobiSystems  8)
