Author Topic: Push Email function has disappeared for my email Exchange account  (Read 657 times)

After working nearly flawlessly for several years, my email exchange account using Aqua Mail stopped pushing emails two days ago.

I did nothing to change the settings within AquaMail. The only thing I did on Saturday was to turn on and then off the "do not disturb" feature on the phone, but I think that was just coincidental.  I can't see  how that would have affected push as it didn't involved any server or app settings.

The email account continues to sync with the exchange server without any problems, but it is now seems to operate more like a pop account.  I can access all my emails after hitting refresh, I just don't get them pushed to my phone anymore.

I made sure the push feature was still enabled in all three places in the app (global, account and folder), and I even removed and then reinstalled the AM app from the Play Store.  But nothing changes. 

As a test, I also reactivated my native email app (called "Email") on my Samsung Note 8 and the push feature works just as it should.  I even noted the server setting was "eas" on the functioning app, vs the "ews" on Aquamail.  I changed to eas, but that hasn't fixed anything either.

Finally, my phone did get updated to Android 9.0, but that was a week ago and AM seemed to continue to work after that.

I realize there are many settings that might be involved, but I would appreciate any suggestions for an obvious fix that I have missed.

I have the SAME EXACT issue!  My issue also started a couple of days ago.  I've tried everything I could think of; including removing my account and adding it back in; leaving all the default options.  I'm using Office 365 for my exchange server.

It looks like Aquamail's Exchange push is completely broken.... unrelated to our client configurations.  I already sent an email to AquaMail support yesterday.  However, AquaMail support didn't realize at the time this is a reproducible issue!  Could you please also email AquaMail support?  They are very responsive and friendly.  Hopefully, we'll have a fix soon.

This probably is not your problem but I suddenly lost 'Push' about a year ago.

In my case it was because AOL were 'upgrading' their email servers because they had merged with someone like Yahoo (maybe not them but certainly another household name). The new servers did not handle 'Push' so now all I can do is create a sync to 'Fetch'.

As I say it may not be what has gone wrong for you - but it might be worth looking whilst waiting for Aquamail to respond.

Not this case.

This case is for Office 365 and other Exchange accounts only.

I just took a guess and... yep.

An easy fix, I just told MobiSystems people about it.

The app will not need to be updated.

Here too, push is not working from 2 days ago. I have to sync mail manually. Only is issue with hotmail outlook accounts.

It's definitely a problem, affecting a very broad case.

And it's temporary, can be fixed.

I already spoke to MobiSystems, they know what to do, and hopefully do it quickly.

The fix does not require app updates.

There is a server component which routes push messages.

It's what's broke, not the app.

I see that the issue has been fixed.

You may need to "refresh" the account once yourself or wait for next scheduled (every 15 minutes) mail check.

After this push mail for Exchange should work again.

If that doesn't help - turn push off in app settings, close the settings screen, go back and turn back on.

This is just to restart the app's retries of communicating with "the server", which it wasn't able to do for 3 days.
