Maybe worth a try while you wait for a Galaxy user.
I have the LG Style and when I swipe a new message to the right it tells the phone it has been read so it does not appear on the counter on the watch.
I am monitoring three AquaMail email addresses and it works brilliantly on the Style which I bought as it is appreciably thinner than the Galaxy. OK it needs charging every night but so does my phone so it is no inconvenience to put both on charge and have a bedside clock.
