"Quote the original" not working in replies

When I reply to emails, the original text is not showing in the message, even though I have the "quote the original" box checked in the "Composing & Sending" section of the settings.

I need this function to work, otherwise, the program is useless to me - how do I fix this?

Do you see three dots in a box under the first blank line in the reply area? That's your original text. You can click on the dots to see it, but that's not necessary in order for it to be included in your reply.
