+ Android 8.0+: notification settings (sound, vibration) are now in phone Settings (a Google requirement).

Actually it's more than that - this version has "target = 8.0" as required by Google.

The appearance of notifications (sound, vibration, etc.) can now be changed *only* by user.

An app can pre-fill some defaults, but that's it, it can't change how a notification appears, only the user can.

In particular, apps cannot change LED color. Only user can in phone settings.

Problem is, Google did not provide that LED color setting.

Closed as "won't fix / infeasible".

Same goes for vibration *patterns* (two short, three long, etc.)

Some phones don't even have a toggle switch for LED on / off.

+ Андроид 8.0+: настройки уведомлений (звук, вибрация) теперь в Настройках телефона (требование Google).

Вообще-то изменения более глубокие - в программе теперь "target = 8.0" по требованию Google.

Настройки уведомлений (звук, вибрация) теперь может менять *только* пользователь.

Приложение может задать значения по умолчанию, и на этом всё, менять их уже не сможет, только пользователь.

В частности, приложения не могут менять цвет LED. Только пользователь может это сделать в настройках телефона.

Проблема - Google не сделал настройку цвета LED в настройках телефона.

Закрыто как "Не будем исправлять / нет смысла".

То же самое относится к *типу* вибросигнала (три коротких, два длинных, и так далее).

На некоторых телефонах вообще нету "галочки" включения / выключения LED.

For Android 8.0 or newer:

Phone Settings -> Apps and Notifications -> tap into Aqua Mail -> Notifications -> Message notificaitons

OR

Aqua Mail Settings -> Message Notifications -> Manage Notifications ---- will "take you into" same screen in Phone Settings

This screen you're looking at -

- is part of your Phone Settings.

It was put there by Huawei, not us.

Maybe Huawei does not want you to select different sounds? Or maybe there is some way to do it that I cannot see?

I don't happen to own any Huawei phones... Sorry...

screen 1,2,3 are the acquamail sequenze

screen 4 instead Whatsapp that as you seen is different from screen 3
of Aquamail where you can not choose the ringtone and instead in whatsapp

Google is forcing all app developers to update their apps to be "optimized for Android 8.0".

As part of that, Notification settings are now in Phone Settings.

There is no other way.

What you posted means that:

- Twitter has been updated to 8.0 - you get same exact screen in Phone Settings as from Aqua Mail

- WhatApp has *not* been updated for 8.0 *yet* - and so it has *its own* Notification Settings.

But *all* apps have to be updated to 8.0. Google is forcing *all* app developers to do this.

So even with WhatApp it's only a matter of time.

Maybe - maybe - as more apps are updated to "optimized for Android 8.0"  - phone makers such as Huawei, Samsung, etc. can make their Phone Notification Settings better.

Maybe. Add sound control (Huawei, already there on other phones), maybe add LED color control (all phones).

Does this mean that once the new version of AM is installed all my notifications (sound and vibration) will be gone? Or if I'm using Android "stock" sounds, I can continue to use them? Will I be able to use the AM vibration paterns?

Not at all your notifications will not be gone.

Only change is - details of how they appear (sound, vibration) are now set in phone settings not in app settings.

This is only for Android 8.0+ no change for earlier versions.
