Message counter stuck and innacurate

Samsung Galaxy S8+ SM-G955U
HARDWARE VER 1.0
aNDROID 8.0.0
KERNEL 4.4.78

Aqua mail V 1.16.0-1193

No updates show in store.

If I have no new messages the counter is not displayed.
If I have new messages, the counter shows 5 messages, no matter how many I have.
When I launch the application, the correct numbers are displayed for each account.

Many folks reported similar issues.
