Missing folders
« on: September 06, 2018, 08:17:00 pm »
I have a number of email account that I monitor on different PC’s (using Thunderbird) and on my Android phone, using Aquamail.  The main account has a number of folders structured thus:
    • Inbox
    • Inbox/ebay
    • Inbox/Flats/Boxford Ridge
    • Inbox/Flats/Charwood Road
    • Inbox/Flats/Temple Road
    • Inbox/Lions
    • Inbox/Unicorn
    • Drafts
    • Sent
    • Deleted
I have decided to transfer to a different web host so created a new IMAP account and used a PC to build the same folder structure and move all emails from the folders in the old account to the corresponding folder in the new account.  All works well on the PC’s.  However, the new account on Aquamail can only see the following:
    • Inbox
    • INBOX~Flats~Boxford Ridge
    • INBOX~Flats~Charwood Road
    • INBOX~Flats~Temple Road
    • Junk
    • Sent Messages
    • Drafts
    • Sent
    • Deleted
You will see that it only sees some folders.  Furthermore it changes the case of Inbox and changes the separator from ‘/’ to ‘~’.  There is no difference between the old and new accounts on the PC’s.

Any ideas would be welcome

Interesting...

I set up a new email account through https://www.fasthosts.co.uk/ [nofollow] , who i already use for hosting websites. The webmail site they use is https://webmail.livemail.co.uk/?_task=mail&_mbox=INBOX [nofollow] . I configured the account on Thunderbird on a PC, then created the folder structure in Thunderbird, which is the same process I used for creating the folder structure with my existing hosting (https://mail2.virginmedia.com [nofollow]). The account structure is correct when viewed through Thunderbird, and on the webmail site.

I suspect therefore that there is some subtle difference in the structure that is ignored by webmail and by Thunderbird but corrupts Aquamail.

If you want to investigate further I have set up a lite account (100MB) at Test@alan-rouse.com using the password Test1234 . You can find setup details at https://help.fasthosts.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/731 [nofollow] .

So do you thik this is a bug in Aquamail?  If so what are the chances of it being fixed?

I created the account in gmail (using Add Account >> Other) and it recognises the structure, but isn't as logical as Aquamail).  The screenshots illustrate:

I have attached screenshots of the folders accessible on Aquamail and a document showing the file structure on Thunderbird and webmail.  You will see that some folders are missing
