Are you really talking about apps on a mobile device's OS (Thunderbird?)
Talking about all. Android, iOS, Mac OS and windows. All of them acting as same instead of Aquamail.

So, there are a bench of apps that you could use if they fit your needs, better than AquaMail 8)

No I like the app, at least for now. that's not the point. My question is if developers are aware that this is not how it should be and if they have any plans to change it the way it should be.

Sorry, but...

I just received notifications about 3 new unread messages (2 in account 1 and another one in account 2), Then I went to the homescreen and AquaMail's badge icon shows the number of new unread messages: "3", which is absolutely correct, there is nothing wrong displaying this number.

Why should the badge show me the total number of "all" unread messageses (in my case that would be more than 300 unread messages in total in all my different accounts - just Inboxes).
This information would be completely uselss for me, since in fact only 3 new messages have been received recently. That's exactly what I expect because of my settings: 'Notify me about new unread messages'.

However, the decision to change the implementation or even not, is with the developer, of course.

Well, that's the way AquaMail is working as intended - as already explained by Kostya:

The unread badge and notifications both follow the one and only "new / all unread" setting. There is no way to get badges working one way and notifications working the other way.

... and - at least in my opinion - that's the way how notifications should work: notifications and the badge should notify me about about new or all unread messages: both should show the same number of new or all unread messages. The 'real' total number of (= all) unread messages you always can see  inside the app.

However, if you want to be notified about the number of *all* unread messages - even without opening the app (outside the app) - then you are able to change that in the settings: Notify about 'All unread messages'
[see screenshot below]

... The decision is up to you  :)
Yes I wrote about that earlier. If I choose all unread messages, then every new email notification showing like 20 new emails. I've posted screenshots earlier.

This is not how it should work. Outlook, Gmail, mail app, thunderbird etc. None of them working like that.

No. Other email apps are not working as you pretend.
Please post screenshots showing how other apps are working. I cannot reproduce what you're saying.
I did it earlier. See screenshot again. All, literally all of them works like that.

I'm not talking about anything new, or any new idea, this is the usual way these works.

Of course as you said, developers can even decide not to show any notifications thats their call :)

Notifications (when there are many of them) are listed in AquaMail without being "opened" as in Gmail app for instance.
Listed them in detailed view mode would be an added value to the client experience (as a future enhancement)
Correct, but not only this.

If you check Gmail and Aquamail at the same time, let's say you have total 28 unread emails and received 2 new emails, so total you have 30 unread now.

If you choose message notifications as "New unread message only" (in Aquamail):

On Gmail, icon will show 30 unread - 2 new at notifications
On Aquamail, icon will show 2 unread. (!!) - 2 new at notifications

If you choose message notifications as "All unread messages" (in Aquamail):

On Gmail, icon will show 30 unread - 2 new at notifications
On Aquamail icon will show 30 unread

BUT

Notifications will come as 30 unread messages on Aquamail (!) This is just wrong.

It should act like any of the other email apps. Not only email, even SMS works likes this.

Something else to keep in mind is - Gmail's view of the world is based on conversations, and it shows the number of unread conversations not messages (and "since last update" a day or two ago, it will show the count of all messages per conversation, even those marked read).

Gmail does not (to my knowledge) a way to change what / how it counts (and they just changed it too).

Aqua gives you a choice - "all" unread or "new" unread, and this setting is used in both notifications and the number on the badge (if your phone / launcher supports it).

You're right. But also outlook and other email clients working like that too.

The only option I've found in Outlook has two choices: All and None, must be something else. And Gmail - again from what I've seen - always notifies about "new" and there is no setting either...

I don't know why I couldn't explain myself.

You're right - outlook shows All and none.

BUT

If you select All, Icon badge shows all unread - while notification showing as new unread. If you have 1000 unread emails, new 1 email notification is not coming for 1000 emails but for 1 email.

To clarify this:

Re: And then swipe down on the notification.

When Aqua Mail or any other app posts notifications to the status bar --

-- it's Android which decides if they will show initially opened or require a swipe down. Not us. Not other apps.

I regularly see Gmail notifications "collapsed" on my phones and have to swipe down to expand, so it's subject to same logic inside Android.

May happen to Aqua's notifications, or any other app's.

We provide all the data - but it's Android which renders it.

( it's probably "first come first serve", but who knows... something based on how many notifications there are total... )

Merhaba, çözemedim. Anlatmaya çalıştım bir çok ekran görüntüsüyle ama garip bir şekilde bunu problem olarak görmüyorlar.
