Swiping to delete a message invokes "go to next message"
« on: April 08, 2018, 10:58:40 pm »
I hate it when emails open up unprompted, therefore have set "after deleting message, go back to message list.".

This works as expected when you press the "bin" icon, but if you instead swipe-delete the message from the left-pane message-list, this doesn't work, and the next message is opened.

Cheers

In two panel mode?

Message list side by side with message view?

And you're swiping to delete - in message list, I presume?

Cheers for the quick reply!

Sorry for not being clearer - yes to all questions! - It's when I have the message list to the left whilst i'm viewing a message on the right. If I click the bin/trash icon on the message, the screen switches back to the one-panel message list, as expected. But if I swipe to delete in message list, then the next message is opened.

It's easier to quickly delete a bunch of messages swiping in the left hand panel, but if there are messages I don't have time to deal with, I leave them marked as "newmail", so having them opened automatically is awkward, and I assume the reason for the original option to "on delete, return to message list rather than opening next message" in the first place!

I hope this is clearer. It's been a long day and I'm not explaining myself too clearly this evening!

cheers!

Oh you were almost perfectly clear ;)

I'd have to think about this.

My first reaction here - it would be a bit strange (to apply the "close message view and go back to message list" in this case, for two panel view specifically).

My swiping seems to be backward.  My left swipe is supposed to delete but I can't even get it to do anything by swiping left.  Swiping right deletes messages but that's not how it's setup.  Or maybe I don't understand what I'm seeing some of which is off the screen.

See the attachment.  I'd prefer to be able to insert an image into the post without having to load it to a cloud and provide a link.  Most boards you can just Ctrl+v to post inline.

I have Swiping turned on in "Message List" but I don't know what all these 1st, 2nd, 3rd icons are and I don't even understand which section is swipe left or swipe right.  But I want it to delete by swiping left and it is not.  As you can see in the attached image part of the first image is cutoff the left side of the screen.  I guess theicon beside the image is showing the action but the first section is listed as right side  but is that a swipe right or left?  Very confusing.

The upper section shows which actions are choosen by swiping to the left: the corresponding icons will then be visible on the right-hand side.

A total of up to six swiping actions can be defined: three on the right side (= swiping to the left) and three on the left side (= swiping to the right).

For your use case you would need to set it as follows:

Upper section = icons on the right/swiping to the left
First icon -> choose "Delete (the account's delete option)" by tapping on the current description (mark read/unread) to change it.
