The email counter doesn't really match up with, for example, Nova and TeslaUnread, which don't work on widgets.

Screenshots would be very helpful.

There is no "the" email counter.

There are several:

- On the app's icon?
- In notifications?
- On the app's main screen - list of accounts?
- In message lists in the title bar?
- In message lists in the side panel?
- In message counter widget?
- In message list widget?

Which one did you mean?

If you meant "on the app's icon" and the phone is a Samsung with Android 8.0 - this is addressed in the FAQ near the end.

I'd like the widget counters to look like the app counters that are round and red. See the attached examples. The first screenshot is the AM widget for different email accounts with unread email counter. The second screenshot is the AM app icon with system counter for unread emails for all accounts in the app drawer. I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S9+ on Oreo and using Nova Prime with TeslaUnread.

This is what I have on my Samsung S8 with 8.0.

A pretty good match I'd say (the intensity differs a bit, but it's different in Samsung's 7.0 IIRC).

Please try app settings -> widget -> unread count style -> Samsung.

When I switch it to Samsung TouchWiz, it comes out blue not red.

Blue -> there are unread messages but they're not "new"

Orange -> there are "new" unread messages (you've not opened the respective folders to see what those new messages are)
