Dual Messenger
« on: March 23, 2018, 10:09:59 pm »
Will be implemented in the near future the dual messenger function? This has been possible since Oreo and would be very useful for a private / business mobile phone.
Some apps already support this service.

This is a new feature in Android 8. This allows 2 instances to be launched from an app. For example, WhatsApp. Here you can use 2 user accounts at the same time.
For aquamail that would be interesting, 1 account private, 1 account business - each with different email accounts.

Looks like it's a Samsung feature.

I'm not seeing any documentation for on Samsung's developer site:

Do you?

I'm sorry, I'm over-asked. I thought that would be the task of the developer to integrate this function. Apparently, only samsung can unlock the apps for it?!

Yes, this is a Samsung specific feature which they have implemented in their own Android Oreo Version.

'Dual Messenger' clones social networking apps that do not officially support multiple accounts to get around the limitation. Dual Messenger only works with apps that do not officially support multiple accounts, and you will be able to use major ones like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Snapchat.
BTW: AquaMail supports to login into multiple accounts (max. two accounts in the free version) :) .

However, even Instagram is not supported by Samsung currently:

And it seems that Samsung chooses which apps are enabled for this feature - i.e. it's not something "any" app can implement just because it wants to.
