@arf8 - I really cannot comment.

Would probably be best to send an email to support / at / aqua-mail com - our Project Manager reads that daily, it would help if she knew about your suggestion.

Oh and by the way - what should happen if there are multiple messages from multiple "special senders" at the same time? Each with its own "special sound"?

I will send the email.

Regarding the multiple sender issue no different than when 2 emails come back to back one is norm and other is priority, which ever comes first that is the notification that goes off. In terms of multiple priority senders no difference, if you wish to prioritize notification based on which is received first or the top priority is from the first sender on the list. Which ever is easier to implement.

First rule of asking for ETA:
> Do not ask for ETA!

Second rule of asking for ETA:
> DO NOT ASK FOR ETA!

ETA is 'when it's done'.
Could be 4 weeks, could be 4 months, could be 4 years...

Didn't you threaten to leave and throw a fit on another thread?

No one asked for "ETA", do you know what it even stands for? No one is Arriving, if you are going to be smart ass and rack up your post count use the correct terminology at least which is ETC.  ::)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estimated_time_of_arrival

ETA is also used metaphorically in situations where nothing actually moves physically, as in describing the time estimated for a certain task to complete (e.g. work undertaken by an individual; a computation undertaken by a computer program; or a process undertaken by an organization). The associated term is "estimated time of accomplishment", which may be a backronym.

Bug: After receiving the released update in GPlay a few days ago I have noticed bugs with the Priority notification going off for regular non priority emails.

This has happened at least on 4 different days and it just happened now.

"going off" - triggering?

Once you've received priority messages - notifications will use priority notification settings (sound, led, etc.) until you run the app again.

---

It really is *priority* notifications - so this is working as intended:

- you go outside for a cigarette
- app receives some messages from priority senders, uses priority notification settings
- you come back - "good, nothing important happened"
- next time the app receives messages from non-priority senders
- if we don't use priority notification settings *now* -> you'll never know you had priority messages

This also illustrates a difference between *priority notifications* and what you proposed - "special sound / led used *once* if the app *just now* received messages from sender X, Y or Z, and next time the usual sound / led".

Clearly the implementation is not what I had in mind or how Google uses Priority notification.

You should only receive a Priority notification for that message, it should not continue to use priority notifications for normal emails just because you have not opened the app. I don't know of any other email app with this feature that functions like this. This should be corrected. The intention of priority notification is to let the user know when you receive an email it is a priority or not. Not to continue to receive priority notification when they are not priority just because you have not opened the app yet.

I don't believe I ever requested the Priority notification to behave this way. Gmails implementation and other is what it should be. Your example is if you leave you phone behind, what about people who have their phone on them, I don't want to continue to receive priority notifications for everyone just because I don't view the email right away. This is an inherent fallacy with priority notifications.

Please fix this so it only goes off only when the notification is received from the Priority sender and has no dependency on if you open the app or not.

Thanks

So that if you don't hear the priority notification right then - you'll completely miss it?

Yes exactly. For "something important".

This needs to be Fixed!!!

It is very short sided to think priority notifications are only for when you don't have your phone on you. 99% of the time people have their phones next to them within reach.

Why create threads asking for community feedback if you are not going to listen to your end users?

I don't recall ever seeing a single person asking for this type of implementation of Priority notification! This is your interpretation of a feature that works just fine on other email apps like Gmail and others but in this implementation it is Useless except for only one instance.

The purpose of Priority notification per sender is to notify you of which Sender sent the email, if you have your phone on you or not is irrelevant. This is not the proper implementation of Priority Notification and you are on an island by doing it this way with little benefit to the users.

I'm sorry, but I have had to turn off this feature until it hopefully is fixed so that it is a useful feature like Gmail and other apps which properly have it implemented. You can't advertise a feature and expect everyone to agree with your personal interpretation of it. You have a valid reason for wanting to implement it this way but this actually causes more of a problem for people who have their phone on them the majority of the time.

I would hope with this feedback provided and the initial request the community provided you modify this feature so it is more useful to the end users.

Cheers
