Edge screen lighting on Samsung Galaxy Note8
« on: January 26, 2018, 04:28:29 pm »
Hi,

Any chance of having this feature in AquaMail?

I have enabled Edge Lightning for AquaMail in Settings -> Display -> Edge screen -> Edge lighting and LED notifications are on in AquaMail but the edge of the screen does not light up, only the status LED on top of the phone as usual. Also tried turning on High priority notifications, no change.

Thanks.

Best regards.

Same situation with the S8. I've been using my S8 for a number of months, but just recently discovered the edge lighting option and I have it set up and working for a few apps, including AM. But AM does not trigger it when receiving new mail. I'd love to see this enabled.

This came up before.

This is a Samsung specific feature and I wasn't able to find any documentation on it.

So all we do is just post notifications to the phone's status bar area - which is a standard Android feature - and if Samsung drives their Edge feature off of that (?), or if it requires additional code, maybe they could document it for developers.

Thanks for the explanation, Kostya.

One would think that it's driven from the notifications, but it doesn't help that it's not documented for developers. It adds a really nice touch. Oh well.
