Clarify client incoming mail rules before I buy.
« on: October 24, 2017, 11:16:03 pm »
Can someone clarify something for me regarding client-side mail rules,  before I buy pro and commit my business to it?

First is there such a mechanism in Aqua Mail?
For example, can I set up local (on my phone) rules to move incoming mail from the Inbox to a folder based on something like the sender's domain ?
More specifically say I subscribe to a mail list from info@digitalphoto.com. Can I make an 'rule' that is triggered on all incoming email (multiple accounts woukd be great but a single acct works for me) to take all incoming mail from @digitalphoto.com and move it into a local folder called "photography" (if the same folder exists on my IMAP account's server or only locally, on our phones, doesn't really matter.)
I just want to know if Aqua Mail can leverage local rules, before I commit to Aqua Mail.
Most of my folks like Aqua Mail for it's UI but local mail rules are a 'Show Stopper' (If anyone is familiar with Mail Droid their "local" rules engine is ideal, their UI not so much.)

I've tried to sift through all the forum posts and replies, but I'm not sure the semantics are the same and I have to resolve this quickly, some of the questions and/or replies are a little ambitious to me.

(I want to stay away from server side rules for a number of reasons,  I realize it might be possible there but the rules are going to different for each person and in some cases I or they can't access the server side)

If someone could either point me to something that I can read in detail, or a yes or no.

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Hello,

client side rules are not part of Aquamail.
You have to solve it on server side.

Correct. But most if not all mail services these days have message rules.

And it's better that way too - just one place to set them up and they'll work for years, on all devices, consistently, desktop, mobile, Aqua Mail, Thunderbird, etc., with no additional time to set up in each app.

Personally I've been doing this for years with all my "more important" mail accounts.
