I've figured why I don't see ads. Interestingly there are no ads displayed in the messages list if You are using two-panel UI (In My case: Settings/Look and feel/Two-panel UI and "Portrait mode set" to "Horizontal split").

Maybe for some users it would be a kind of compromise.

I've been using Aqua Mail for the last several years.  About a week ago, I starting getting ads in the message list thinking that the app was hacked.  A couple of days later, I got a half page ad on every email that I opened.  I don't particularly care if an app has some ads as I understand ads provide a source of funding that keep apps at low or no cost.  But when you can't delete an ad, or, as was the case several times, clicking on the ad attempts to take you to a web page that Chrome blocks because it contains malicious code, that is the last straw.  I have been waiting for Aqua Mail to develop a junk/spam filter.  Hasn't happened.  I could have waited for that feature a little longer but the ad situation is untenable.  I moved my email to Gmail today and deleted the Aqua Mail app just before I wrote this post.

Our team puts great effort in developing, testing and supporting the app.
Advertising makes it possible to continue offering a free app for everyone to use. This is why some optional, advanced features are part of the Pro version, and come in an ad-free environment.

Wow! —and just to rub salt in the wound, literally word for word the same copy/paste response you've been putting on all the recent one-star reviews on Google Play.

Well, BlueMail is a "cloud-based" client. What about your privacy? No concerns?
