Your SMTP server should allow sending mail with alternative identities. Some just don't allow that. Some, like Gmail, require creation of those as aliases within Gmail. See 3 sticky messages on how to do that at the top of  the "how do I?" forum here.

This doesn't work. I am info@xxx If I gave a Google G- alias or identity called membership@xxx and send that out, the other person sees

From Info@xxx / Membership
