Hi, just a question before I buy Pro, i couldn't find help for this so apologies if was asked.

Here is my situation: I have one incoming email (IMAP) but two different outgoing (SMTP). I want to create two "accounts" with the *same* incoming IMAP:

Account 1, Personal, Shows Inbox + few select folders, and sends as (for example) "James Wonder <jamesaccount1@personalmail>"

Account 2, Work, HIDES Inbox, shows a few different select folders, and sends as "James Wonder <jamesaccount2@workemail>" OR  "James Wonder <jamesaccount3@differentworkplace>" (and so on; i can choose from who).

So if I'm "in" the folders of account 2, I send from those aliases; if I'm in the main INBOX i send from the other. Is this possible with Aquamail? Is it possible to hide the Inbox from Account 2?

I have the free righ now, and as a test added the same account twice,  but I couldn't change my outgoing name/email on Account 2 for some reason, and also it seemed like I could choose folders and I unchecked all the Inbox stuff (in the free version) and it still showed the Inbox.

Re: I couldn't change my outgoing name/email on Account 2 for some reason

Long press on the account -> account setup -> change your name and email on this screen, then tap Manual and keep the "logins" on server settings screens same as they are.

Re: unchecked all the Inbox stuff (in the free version) and it still showed the Inbox

Long press on the account -> options and folders -> folders. Let it refresh. Tap "Inbox", choose "Do not sync".

Another way to do this is with identities - you'd add the account once, and then add the "other" email addresses as identities under that account.

You'll be able to switch between the account and its identities on the compose screen, and also the app will recognize any incoming emails sent to an identity and use that when replying.

The part about "if I'm in the Inbox use address1, if in some other folder use address2" won't work though.

Oh and identities are a Pro only feature - but you can contact us for a refund at support / aqua-mail / dot com later if it ends up not working for you.

Wow, thanks for the detailed response! I was so impressed with AM, I bought the Pro before you even responded :-)

One more question, if I may.

Past outgoing identities, the reason I add the same account "twice" is one more reason:

Because I want notifications to be different depending on what folder is updated (so, if Inbox is updated, I want notification in Account1, and if the 'Work' folder is updated, I want notifications for taht).. Basically keep work and personal separated virtually, even though they have the same incoming IMAP. And sometimes I want to disable notifications for Work (for example weekend) but keep for the main Inbox.

Given these needs can I still add the account only once and then just use Identities?

Thanks again for the support and for your excellent, polished product.

No, notifications are per-account.

So if the "two accounts" scheme works for you - I guess keep using that (you have my blessing :) )

Or alternatively, in a "one account" scheme, you could use multiple message counter / message list widgets and make them "point to" the right folder each (but a widget points to an account or a folder, not arbitrary "several folders X, Y, Z"). Those would be widgets though, not notifications.

The only thing that may be a little "strange" is that both of those accounts will use the same Sent and Deleted folders on the server.
