Link Color
« on: February 23, 2017, 05:52:39 am »
Is it only for me that I see all links in the message in a green color? They weren't green before the recent Material Design update... I think they were blue before, something more common. Looked all over the settings trying to find a way to change the color.

May we please have an option of changing the accent color, then? Teal isn't that universal to feel matching any custom color palette. We can change the title bar, menu bar, and floating action icon colors and I, like many, took full advantage of it to match my brand colors (black and purple). After all that customization, teal simply screams and feels terribly out of place. I suppose blue wasn't that difficult to cope with in the past years... Thank you.

That's an 'old' discussion:
http://ux.stackexchange.com/questions/2278/should-hyperlinks-be-blue

However, the color known as "hyperlink blue" is no longer one of the default options in Microsoft Word.

So, the world is constantly changing...

I'm using the Light Theme and my hyperlinks still appear to be blue unless the email sender has customized them of course.

It is not a question of what is old and new, just a suggestion to give us flexibility of customizing the accent color to fully fit the rest of the environment.

Blue (light/regular) was the "accent" color of AquaMail, now it's aquamarine/teal.
You can see the change in the Floating action button color, the new icon, etc.
And this is better in my opinion as a user.

Clearly, from zorz's message, I'm not the only one who thinks the teal "accent" colour is bloody horrible! I've already asked on another thread, that you're party to, for an option to change it.

An option to choose the color for "Hyperlinks" would be a good idea.

We just changed it back to the standard "browser blue" for the two light themes.

The change is present in last night's build of 1.8.2:

Thanks a lot, Kostya! No similar love for the dark themes? ;)

Well, the dark themes are, well, dark, so at least for now -- the "teal" seems to look more constrast-ey against dark gray / black.

It just seems easiest for me to give each user a way to customize that darn color in settings... :)

Re: Well, you have changed it to this "brower blue" of 1990's and some users (including myself) have asked for teal before that.

I checked it on several of my phones and the teal (in the light themes) was too light and hard to read.

This statement brought to memory one fact by association (even though it is mostly irrelevant to the issue being discussed).

There was a period (late 1990's or early 2000's) when web-designers started adding to the websites phrases like "This page is best viewed with such-and-such browser". That, in essence, defeated the original idea of HTML that the web-content should be visible and usable regarding of the client.
(Without getting into technical details, I'd say that it happened because different browsers started using different "extensions" of HTML, and web-page designers started going after "latest and greatest".)

At that point, I added something like "This site is best viewed on my computer" to one of my web-pages.

Hi all,

I'm currently reviewing this issue, thanks for the feedback. Point taken - the current link color isn't doesn't contrast well in the light theme.
However, since the "standard internet blue" isn't really matching our Aqua color palette, we're likely to go with a modified (darker) Cyan blue or Teal color in the future.

The best would be Teal, same as the default Floating Action Button color in the Material Design Clear theme.

In one of the dev builds, -201 or 202 I think - Teal was introduced (only in the message header) and it was good. Tested on Samsung 7 edge, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6.

Thank you for your efforts
Who said it was good? I can't stand teal; I think it's a nasty horrible shade that doesn't know if it's green or blue. Stop trying to force your OPINION on everyone as if it was fact.
