Getting the old look and feel
« on: February 16, 2017, 12:43:54 pm »
Hi team,

I think I'm on the 1.8 version but prefer the look of 1.72.

I'm not sure what is different but I just can't get on with the new colours. I have tried changing 'look and feel' but nothing suits. I'm worried I night have to drop aqua mail for another package.

Can I downgrade or can you supply the old look/feel please.

Thanks, K

Hi there,

same here... I saw the new design on my wifes mobile.
I am okay with the colours. But I really don't understand why we can't see the day on which the E-Mail arrived like we did before.
This makes it hard to find a Mail from a specific date.

I've just disabled Updates on my device and therefore I am still happy with the old version. And I will not upgrade until this is fixed.

Please try to disable the very first option in:

-> Settings -> Message list -> Break up by date

Correction. Please enable app settings -> message list -> break up by date, and those date headers will be back in no time.

As you can see, we made the change but kept the setting to bring the grouping back.

Screenshot #1
Settings -> Message list -> Break up by date enabled
= no date on each message, only time on the right edge
But you will see the date in the Date header

Screenshot #2
Settings -> Message list -> Break up by date disabled
= only date on each message, no time on the right edge

Suggestion to solve this issue
Move the place for 'date/time' to the Title line 1 (above the star, if stars are enabled), There should be enough space to display both: date and time (when 'Break up by date' is disabled.

Hi!

Same experience as Turtle59 but after enabling "Settings > Message List > Break up by date" I was back to where I was before the update. I'm also getting the date or time on the each message with Break up by date enabled. However, I did decide to disable "Settings > Look and Feel > Thin fonts."

I love the new shortcut...very nice!

Hopefully, you will add a "Settings > Message List > Sender's Icon" option soon.

Would you please post screenshots before/after the change regarding date? I don't see what you're describing
I did exactly the same thing, found a download for the 1.72 apk
I tried the way mentioned to bring the send button down, it didnt work for my nexus 6, the button stayed at the top no matter what settings I chose.
I also use the dark these, and the unread messages contrast much better, the accounts underline and just look so much better too. The newer look is terrible in my view. I was ready to jump ship and use another until I managed to find a download. As long as it keeps working Ill stick with it....but it bothers me when after years of using this app, something like this is done

App settings -> message list -> group by date (top item) -> enable.

And you will have "date" headers in the message list again.

Thanks! Once you mentioned it, I went looking for a 1.72 apk and am reverting back. Disabling updates. Will use it until it breaks and then move on.

Dear Members,

This is the best email client for Android! Thank you!
I've been using it long time and I bought the Pro version. Unfortunately, I hate new design.   :'(

The previous version includes everything to me (even more), so I installed back 1.7.2-125 and I disabled the updates. I hope I can use this version the next Android systems during for a long time.

Thanks for everything!

Bye, Fifi

You can download the very latest build of the previous version 1.7.2-132-stable:

Thanks for the link.

I really don't like the new look'n'feel - for example,  I don't want anything to the left of the message header - no contact images OR Check boxes... similar to the way I had it before the update. Why has this update taken us a backward step. I understand material design etc,  but to remove functionality??

I will revert back to previous stable version,  disable updates and look for an alternative. What a shame the developer sold out!

I thought I saw someone post an even more recent old version.  Is this the definitive most recent and stable old version?
