View Full Subject in Message View (Inbox)
« on: October 23, 2016, 06:17:03 pm »
I am running AquaMail Pro v1.6.2.9 on a Galaxy Note 4 running MM v6.0.1 stock and rooted.

The setting I'm looking for is probably there and I just can't find it so hopefully, this is an easy answer.

I receive a lot of e-mail notifications from processes that run nightly on my desktops.  For example, sync jobs, backups, etc.  Some of these have rather long subject lines and unfortunately, the result of the job (Success or Failure) is the very last word of the subject.  With my previous mail client, I was able to view the entire subject while in my Inbox without actually having to open the e-mails.  This made things easy...if the subject ended with "Success", I could just delete the e-mail knowing the job succeeded.  With AquaMail, the subject line appears limited to one line.  In order to see the complete subject, I have to open the e-mail and expand the header.  This may not sound like much of an issue but trust me, when you have 20 notifications every morning, it quickly becomes tedious.

So, my question is...how can I configure AquaMail to show me the complete subject in the Inbox view?

Thanks!

Yes, subjects are limited to one line in the preview.

What if you rotate the phone to landscape, does that give you enough room?

Hi, please allow to say that your workflow seems very complicated. :)

I assume, that 99 % of these mails end up with "success". If not, you will have too much problems with those nightly routines.

So why checking and deleting all this messages manually?

- You might try to set server filters for subject and delete messages automatically, if subject ends up with "success"

OR

- You could use Tasker and plugin of AquaMail for local automation and check for subjects of the messages. So you could see an alarm, reminder or something else, if there are subject, which end up with "fail".

Certainly there are more ways to handle it in a efficient way, these are two examples.

Hello,

I am also looking for the exact same feature. But not in the Inbox view. Is this available in the message view at least? I am unable to find any option to display full subject without clicking on the message header. What I need is, when we open the email, the full subject along with recipients without clicking on the header. Also, is it possible to display the subject in bold letters inside the message header.

If you tap on the message header (in message view) the header expands and you will see the whole subject and all recipients (to/cc/bcc).
AquaMail remembers this state for the next time

Currently there is no option available in the settings. Kostya would be able to add an appropriate option. However, since "Aqua Mail is now part of the MobiSystems family" (http://www.aqua-mail.com/?cat=3) I'm concerned who will take care about such enhancements and when and especially whether this might be implemented.

It is, if a message is unread. And if it's read, it's not bold. Sorry, no "read but still bold".

My solution probably won't apply to the other poster.  My issue was that many of the "results" e-mails from my syncing program were quite long.  Aqua Mail only displayed one line of the subject in the message preview.  As a result, I couldn't see the end of the subject line in many of my scheduled jobs' e-mails.  This was a problem because the job results (success or failure) appeared at the end of the subject.  I ended up modifying e-mail setting on my syncing program to place the results variable first in the e-mail subject.

So, instead of this for the subject...

Subject:  Sync Job %SYNC_JOB_NAME% run by %COMPUTERNAME% on %DATE% at %TIME% - Status %STATUS%

I now see this...

Subject:  Status %STATUS% - Sync Job %SYNC_JOB_NAME% run by %COMPUTERNAME% on %DATE% at %TIME%

Now I can see the status of the jobs again without opening the e-mail or changing my workflows.

@ilikered
You could also "play around" with the option 'Mark messages as read':
-> Settings -> Message view -> tap on "Mark messages as read" -> choose one of the offered options [-> see screenshot]

First of all, Thank you for this awesome app this is currently the best email app that formats the email on mobile properly!

Coming to the feature, even though the message is read, it would look very nice if the subject is bold when we are inside the mail view. In the mail list view, showing only those that are unread in bold makes perfect sense.

Yes, I know. This is the reason why I just mentioned "playing around" with it  8)
