Schedule sync not working properly

The schedule sync on my Aquamail app on android not working properly, I set to sync messages every 5 min, but it just won't work, can someone advise or face any similar issue

You didn't write much about your situation.

Who is your provider? Is it Hotmail/outlook  by any chance?
What is your Android version? (If it is N or M, look into FAQ for battery optimization question.
What is you phone? If it is Huawei, you have a similar solution as above: whitelist Aquamail to avoid ANY battery optimization for this app.
Do you have any other client apps/ devices (desktop?)  accessing the same mail at the same time (via POP3)?

Also can interfere:

- Memory optimizer apps like Clean Master

- Battery optimizer apps, may be built into the phone (Xiaomoi, Huawei, please see the FAQ)

Does the app check mail at all, just not every 5 minutes, but more like every 15? Android version 6?
