Can't send mail on Android 6.0.1 using Zoho Mail servers
« on: June 30, 2016, 12:51:21 am »
I just installed the latest Aqua Mail app on my Oneplus 3 phone that's running Marshmallow 6.0.1
I setup my account using the "Internet" option for an IMAP server. I enter in Zoho's published IMAP server settings with the correct names and security protocols and everthing seems to go okay in Aqua Mail. When I start the app, I see all of my email in the inbox and other folders. So, something is causing an issue with SMTP.
Even when I enter the SMTP settings during the account setup, it passes the quick test and the setup procedure goes on to the next step.
However, if I try to send an email I get a popup stating there was an "error submitting the message" and nothing is sent out.

I know that the server names, login name, password, etc are all correct as I have successfully used the same settings in other email applications. I have also tried various combinations of ports and SSL/TLS and logon protocols. Nothing I do gets Aqua Mail to be able to send.

I like this email client and would really like to get it to work. Anyone been able to get this to work with the Zoho servers?

Thanks for your reply.
But, I've tried that smtp configuration (among many others) and I still get the "error submitting message" when trying to send an email.
WiFi or 4G - it doesn't matter, still no luck.

I've used the Zoho app and also Touchdown and Bluemail (all on Android) and of course Outlook 2010 on the PC. Of all the Android apps, I like the Aqua Mail UI the best, but it's the one that refuses to work with ZoHo. Aqua Mail works fine on my phone with Gmail.

Can I ask what you have set for authentication under the smtp settings? Though I have tried them all.
Also what version of Android are you using? I'm beginning to think it may be a bug with 6.0.1
I'm also thinking that maybe there's an issue with Aqua Mail's setting for where it stores sent mail. I have two folders - "Sent" and "Sent Items". If there's a setting for this in Aqua Mail, I can't find it.
Oh, and are you using the "Pro" version? I'm using the free version until I can get this working

I got it to work  :)
I have 2 addresses with Zoho. When I switched to the 2nd account it works fine. I'm fine with using this 2nd account, so I'm good to go.

Thanks again for your help, and sorry I wasted your time  :-\

Sounds like a settings issue, or maybe one of those accounts needs special settings, or is an alias (not a real account).

Does not sound like an AquaMail issue.

But if you'd like to diagnose further:

- The draft folder's message list should have a more detailed message, in red, below the draft which failed to send.

- And/or you can capture the issue in the app's debug log, this is linked below (in my signature).
