Since version update, gmail emails that are deleted only delete if purged?

Ever since a recent update, it seems the emails I delete from gmail dont get removed.  Its only if i go in and "purge deleted items" that this works and they are removed from the inbox.

(I used gmail online to compare or outlook and saw the deleted emails didnt delete).

Is this a known issue?  (android, galaxy s6 active, 5.5)

Please check the mapping between the app's "special" folders and server folders.

- Long press the account -> options and folders -> folders
- Let it refresh
- Look under [Gmail] for "Trash" or "Bin"
- Tap this folder's name and choose "Sync with [ Deleted ]" from the popup
- And then please check Sent and Drafts as well

Thanks so much that was the ticket..

After the update i had to start from scratch, my accounts werent working, so that must be why, i forgot to sync those folders .

They are set up as needed during initial account setup, so it had to be one of two things (I'm guessing):

- A change in Gmail profile language, have seen it happen randomly, with folder names changing (they're even different for US vs. UK English)

- Or perhaps a database corruption, very unpleasant, very rare, something in low level system code - when this happens, the app is able to recover most of its settings but not the folder mappings...

I am just curious what Google uses for "Trash" for UK English?  Rubbish?

On a serious note, - the issue related to language switching in Gmail started popping up with Gmail recently. I wonder why they did not go a different route: At the server database, keep the folder/label name the same, in English, but at the level of the client (webclient, mobile app, ..) - map according to the locale.

And I've had reports of Gmail changing US <-> UK English seemingly on its own.

Beats me.

That's what most other mail services do.

And IMAP has "hints" which tell you which is which (drafts, sent, deleted, etc.) so a client won't have to guess.
