Turning off "Aquamail Syncing" notification

Is there a way to turn off the notification that pops up, then disappears, when Aquamail is syncing or checking for new email?

I have mine set to check my email accounts every 5 minutes.  It used to be no big deal until I got a Xiaomi Mi Fit.

I have the Fit set to allow notifications from Aquamail.  So the band vibrates when I get a new email.  Well the problem is the notification that it is checking email causes the band to vibrate every 5 minutes whether there is new email or not.

I want to have the ability to turn off that notification.

Samsung S6 Edge, Stock Verizon Marshmallow.

You can disable this notification in the settings:
> Menu > Settings > Look and feel > scroll down and disable the option "Notification icon during sync and push"

I think this is what you have been looking for.

Turning off the notification during sync and push worked, but it also disabled the vibration if I actually receive an email.

Please check this option:
> Menu > Settings > Message notifications > scroll down and enable the option "Vibration"

The setting you'd turned off, "Notification icon during sync and push" has nothing to do with new message notifications (and yes I did read what you wrote).

I'm guessing it's one of two things:

- Some sort of third party software thing, who knows?

It sounds like this fit bracelet comes with an app monitors notifications from other apps (to mirror them to the bracelet), and maybe this has other side effects. You can try turning this monitoring off in system settings -> accessibility -> services.

- Or you might have an account level "override" for notification settings and this is the one that gets used (instead of the app level settings).

To check, please long press the account -> Special settings.
