Attachments path while composing mail.
« on: May 18, 2016, 04:47:15 am »
Is it possible to predefine a path while adding an attachment to a mail. At present, it opens the last attachment path automatically, which work fine, but if the path is definable, it may save few clicks in most cases.

I believe the default path cannot be set right now.

Can that be done in principle? I am not sure.
I might be wrong, but it seems to me that path is the function of the app that you are using to choose the attachment. From my experience, ES File Explorer behaves as you explained (i.e. comes to the last location used), but I am not certain other apps, even the stock "files" does the same. (Or, maybe it does?)

Need is to save a number of clicks to reach to the attachment object,  for official use,  mainly it could be documebt of pdf.  I am not sure if it is a  function of aquamail of default file manager used by it.  (for example,  if I  need to attach document in whatsapp,  it by default leads me to "documents"  folder ,  and from there I can navigate to other location,  if needed)  if I can store all important attachments in  say "documents" folder,  it saves my many clicks.

Thanks

Re: With my Note 5, there's no path, it's a kind of menu

This window is called "Unified Document Picker" and is part of Android itself, since 4.4:

Not that I know of.

What I was trying to explain is that it works like this:

AquaMail (or any app) to Android: "hey, please let the user pick something like a file"

Before 4.4:

Android to user: "here is a list of app where you can pick stuff, which one would you like to use?"

Since 4.4:

Android to user: "this is our whiz bang Unified Window where you can pick anything, aren't you happy?"
