Just in case, -Outlook 2016 has problem aith ActiveSync accounts

I am not dealing with MS Exchange. But I just came across this page:

What caught my attention it the following statement:

EAS support in Outlook will most likely be abandoned once Outlook.com accounts have been migrated to Exchange Online.

I don't know if that's true or not, - but I thought I'd pass it along, - as an aside related to the Activesync discussions/requests.

from my understanding: it says that EAS (activesync) support will be gone in Outlook 2016 (Outlook app for PC) since "new" Outlook.com/hotmail already has Exchange Online, so users can use Exchange Anywhere to connect their outlook.com to Outlook 2016. EAS support in Outlook 2016 is only outlook.com since "old" outlook.com only has EAS.

there is no statement about the removal of EAS in outlook.com in there, and as for now, i can still connect to my "new" outlook.com via EAS (in my mobile phone and Outlook 2016).

I think (based on the discussion at that link, scroll down to read) they mean "Outlook the Windows app", wow, big news.

Also makes me wonder about this "Outlook Anywhere":

- Is it a protocol?

- Is it supported by Hotmail and Office 365?

i think Outlook Anywhere is owa (outlook web access) or ews (which aquamail has support for it)
"new" hotmail and office365 support it.

OWA is deprecated since 2007, in favor of EWS

And I am unable to find a working EWS endpoint for my @outlook.com account, even though it has been upgraded.

Wish they'd make it more clear...

if you access the "new" outlook.com from web browser, the link is outlook.live.com/owa . or is it different thing?
i can access it via owa mail client in android too (not the one from microsoft though).

for ews, i can connect to it using server: outlook.live.com

This means calendar sync, big deal for certain users.

Just tried it, and it worked in AquaMail.

I am going to add a "preset" for Hotmail / Outlook.com with this server name.
