I have just updated the server names in my previous post in this thread:

And then another question is:

Does GD 365 want something other than the "email" as the login?

Office 365 uses the "email" for login, and that's what Aqua will pre-fill in server settings.

But maybe GD 365 wants something like "user29830948" (for login) not the email?

Again this is something I can't possibly know.

1. I am not marking for GD.  I reported use of the phrase "Cloud-Based" in an attempt to be clear.  Nothing more.

2. Since you have IMAP working, would you please send me screen images so that I can duplicate your setup?  Then we would know for sure.

3. In an earlier post, you referred to adapting AquaMail to compensate for the "priority 0" condition.  If that has been completed, can you point me to the proper version to try that out?

Thank you for your ongoing assistance in this matter.

1 - Wasn't directed at you, but at GD support.

Their job is to provide technical assistance and at this they're failing spectacularly.

A marketing term (which "Cloud Based Blah Blah Blah" is) does not help solving a technical issue.

2 - Posting screenshots for both EWS and IMAP / SMTP.

This is my Exchange Online account (which is Office 365 mail without Word, Excel etc.)

These are same exact settings as already posted in this thread, and as listed on MS's support and forum pages:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Outlook-settings-for-POP-and-IMAP-access-for-Office-365-for-business-or-Microsoft-Exchange-accounts-7fc677eb-2491-4cbc-8153-8e7113525f6c

Suppose I could set it up as POP3 as well, if I wanted to. No reason at all why that wouldn't work.

3 - This is posted here:

The only difference is that with your current version, you will need to tap Manual and change server settings.

The updated version should be able to discover them.

Once you've got the right server settings into the app, there is no difference.

The screen shots provide me with a full set of parameters; previous postings were partial.

Using those parms, I'm stuck at the authentication error; safe to conclude your service provider is doing something different than is GD.

I'll go back to the Native android email since it automatically sets up with GD.

I would respectively submit, however, that your GD bashing is directed at the wrong person.  I'm not defending them, I'm the customer asking questions.  They are unable to resolve this question, admittedly.  However, their technical support to me for the full suite of questions I have asked has been spot on.  This is the single exception.  "Failing spectacularly" does not seem appropriate.

Bottom line, thanks for trying.

Re: your service provider

My mail provider is Office 365, the real thing from Microsoft.

Now (some of) the questions were:

Is GD 365 really Office 365 as it seems to be?

If it is, why is authentication failing?

Are you supposed to use a login that's not your email but something else?

Does GD 365 support EWS? IMAP?

In general, is there something different about GD flavored Office 365 compared to real Office 365?

As I understand, GD support was not able to answer any of those questions.

In the end, it's their mail service (rebranded, whatever), and they were not able to make it work, even though in this situation, they are the ones who should *know* compared to my *trying to guess*.

So yes it is "failing spectacularly".

But I'm not surprised, really, this falls in line with some things about GD's own mail "solution".

1.  Many of these questions were not asked by you of me previously.
2. Godaddy never advertised support of AquaMail.  Readers can look to your website to see what promises were made.
3. I am not asking for a refund of my upgrade.
4. I am returning to my Samsung native Android mail because it automatically handles GD for me as well as my other POP accounts.
5.I will not comment on your customer service attitude.  Readers can decide for themselves.

I will deactivate my forum account.
Thank you for trying.

My "attitude" is simple:

There are hundreds of mail services out there, GD is just one of those, and hundreds of mail apps.

Those mail services and mail apps are able to interoperate by:

1) following standards

2) providing technical information where necessary

There are no issues using AquaMail with real Office 365 accounts. Zero. None.

Now GoDaddy takes Office 365 and "does something" so it no longer works with this particular app (and possibly others).

What is it they did?

Do you expect *me* to know?

How? Crystal ball? Chicken feathers?

GD are (someone there is, hopefully) the one(s) who know what they did, how their "cloud based mail service which sounds like it's Office 365 but clearly not same Office 365 or else it would just work" is different from the original, real, genuine Office 365.

But their support doesn't seem to want to discuss that.

And you don't seem to be willing or able to push them for those answers.

One more time, slowly:

They took Office 365 and somehow made it different so it happens to no longer work with AquaMail (and possibly other apps).

I have absolutely no way to know what they did.

And they are not telling.

They aren't even capable of discussing it at an appropriately technical level: "just use the stock email app" does not clarify anything technical.

A bunch of incompetent clowns (yeah, they're a large company, so OK, "a large bunch of incompetent clowns").

And yes, I read above that you're going to use the "native" email app.

Sure, whatever, if GD's "365" is mangled so only this one choice works, well, what can I do?
