Aqua not checking mail automatically
« on: April 07, 2016, 06:19:44 am »
Sync is enabled at 15min. But unless you manually do a sync in the morning, or after a reset, it does nothing. Everything used to work fine before.

Please help. This is absolutely annoying and I'm missing emails. Thanks.

Have you read the last item in the FAQ yet?
http://www.aqua-mail.com/?page_id=227

Please, check and disable any battery optimizer (built-in for some builds, e.g. MIUI, or separate apps), and, please, let us know when that solves the problem.

If the problem persists, please tell us more information:
1. What type of e-mail service you are using (free mail, such as Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.)?
2. Show a screenshot of your sync configuration screen in Aquamail.
(see a few other very recent threads discussing similar issues.)

Hi there! Thanks for the reply. And, no... I went through the FAQs but never got that far.. Oops...

Indeed, I'm using a Xiaomi and yes I've found the settings. I've set it to OFF and will let you know if it works.

BTW, the seetings can be found Settings> Additional Settings > Battery & Performance > Manage Apps battery usage

This was set to STANDARD, and there is also an ADVANCED setting which I shall try once I am certain that this is in fact the problem.

Thanks again.

Hi STR,

I have tried what you suggested, I've even uninstalled all apps that could have contributed to the problem. It still does not work....

Somehow, Aqua does not seem start up automatically after a reboot.

Would appreciate any help... Thanks.

And if you can, please capture the issue in the app's debug log (linked in my signature below).

Just enable logging, and leave the app alone long enough for it to should have checked mail (maybe 2-3X), so with the default "every 15 minutes" that would be about an hour.

Then send me the log files.

Info on Android version / device make / model might help too.

Hi all!
I have two devices running cm13 and scheduled email syncing for every 30 minutes (time ref 00:00). Usually, when the device is asleep, notifications arrive 5-20 minutes later. I made sure that Doze, Greenify or Amplify don't touch Aqua but didn't turn these battery saving apps off completely.
I wonder if this behavior is normal for Android 6, or if there is something that can be done to make Aqua sync every 30 minutes sharp. FYI, on an older device running cm11 (and the same battery saving apps) email sync always runs on time.
Regards,
Fedor

Unfortunately 'doze mode' is forced on system level (Android OS, since version 6.0 / CM13) and can not be influenced by the app itself -  as far as I know -.

Doze Mode doesn't completely switch off even when an app is whitelisted. It should however allow background activity every 15 minutes.

You may want to ask CM developers if they're using a different restriction (e.g. an hour, whatever...)
