Question about viewing image-attachments
« on: March 20, 2016, 04:42:18 pm »
Hi, in account settings I set attachments
- to be loaded directly with WIFi until 10MB
- NOT to be loaded directly with mobile data connection

Works like a charm, thanks.

But there is a difference in viewing images, e.g. a jpg-image:
- With WiFi the image is shown in AquaMail directly. If I tap on the image, I will be asked which app I want to use. Fine.
- But with mobile connection I want to tap the attachment (for downloading and) showing in AquaMail. But at the same time I will be asked, which App I want to use. But I think, at this moment users don't want to use another app, they just want to see the image in AquaMail (same behavior as with WiFi where  would be downloaded before).

I don't know whether it's related to Android system or AquaMail.

Anyway, this small "problem" is not important,  I can live with it by tapping the return button every time. But maybe someone feels bored and has an answer.

The "in AquaMail" is just a preview -- so when you tap an attachment that has not been loaded before, the app:

- Downloads it

When it's done:

- Initiates "open in ... whatever app" (the popup you're seeing)

- At the same time, since the downloading has been completed, you will see the preview filling in (behind the popup).

Thank you, yes, this is the behavior.

And what about just showing the preview, when tapping on image-attachment, which is not loaded yet.

And then (2nd) tap on preview will show "open in" dialogue...

Or saying it another way:
Why providing an excellent preview of images and hide it at the same time with a not needed popup? ;)

Often a preview is enough.

Re: Why providing an excellent preview of images and hide it at the same time with a not needed popup

A lot of people think it's not "an excellent preview", rather they complain that "there is no pinch zoom", "the images are clipped", "I can't quite make out my town on the preview of a 10000 by 10000 px world map" etc.

So "tap" means "open in an external app" and the fact that it needs to be downloaded first -- it a technical detail which the app takes care of automatically.

If I made the change, surely there'd be complaints about "having to tap twice".

Hmm, this might be, I don't know ...

So leave it as it is. As I said before, no big problem for me ;)
