Mail Sent By Me Shows Recipient In Message List
« on: December 18, 2015, 12:57:07 am »
Mail sent by me which also has myself as a recipient shows the the person I sent to in the message list instead of me (who it was from). All other mail shows who it is from. It makes it extremely difficult to distinguish between what I sent and what the other person sent. The little black arrow is all the only difference.

Please add an option to show mail as sent from myself.

I cannot speak for Kostya,  the app developer.
Just in case you haven't noticed, and it would be helpful: in the situation like yours, - there is an arrow and indent for the recipient's name/address.

Also, for the view in Smart Folder, there is a configuration option: Settings -> Smart Folder -> "Show sent messages with you as sender". I am not sure if it works only for the messages stored in the "Sent" in case those are included, or _all_ messages that are from yourself.

Paris Geek:
Read his message carefully:  she/he is not talking about messages in Sent , but rather about those that she/he copies to her/himself.
And he/she may or may not use the Smart folder.

PS. I also missed that upon first reading,  and missed some other details on the second.

Yes, messages like this are detected as a special case and the app shows the recipient's image (and that small arrow which Paris Geek mentioned). What's the use of looking at your own contact image?

Kostya,

I am not sure about the contact image (in my case I have them disabled), - but the rational of the OP is similar to that option you've implemented in the Smart-Folder settings ("Show sent messages with you as sender").
(Even though personally, I am not using that option, and seldom send (a copy of) messages to myself.)

So would the idea be to add another setting to control this?

To the OP -- can you confirm if this was "just an observation" or something that really makes things difficult for you?

I am neither advocating nor opposing this. I just shared my understanding of the situation.

If I were to evaluate the logical merit, I'd say it makes sense:
Since you enabled that option in the Smart Folder (so that it was important enough for some users), it makes sense to have it (as an option, of course) for other folders as well.
