Sync issue with Exchange + General Question
« on: November 21, 2015, 08:09:02 pm »
I have been using AM with my work Exchange account (with EMS setup), and recently added my personal Yahoo account since upgrading my device to Android Lollipop 5.1, where the stock email app (as well as the Gmail app) renders the Yahoo in-message text size way too small, for reasons unknown, and it's not adjustable.

The issue I'm having has been occurring even since originally using AM with only the Exchange account. Simply put, probably at least 50% of the sync attempts fail (for just the Exchange account). But what's even more curious is that, if/when the sync attempt fails, I can touch the sync icon next to the account name and it will sync successfully in two seconds (or less) almost 100% of the time!  So I wonder what's going on with that.  I have the sync interval set to ten minutes.

My general question is also about syncing.  Is there a way to have separate account-based settings for the Time Reference point (as opposed to the global app setting)?  I like a ten minute interval; I'd just like to stagger the accounts' sync points while maintaining that.  I've looked where I thought that'd be logical to find (the Special Settings area of either account) but apparently that's not currently a feature.

Not a deal breaker, but just asking.  Love the product!

The "time reference point" setting is global, purposefully so, and specifically avoid "staggering" -- which would (if it happened) could lead to increased battery use. The way it is now, the idea is to wake up the phone from deep sleep as little as possible.

( and yes, some staggering is still possible, e.g. two accounts with mutually prime sync intervals, like every 11 and every 13 minutes )

It would help me to know what exactly happens when "Simply put, probably at least 50% of the sync attempts fail".

I mean, what is the error message (if any)? Does the app crash? Something else?

Error message is:

"Error synchronizing mail.  Network error."  And then the red exclamation point and last successful sync time pop up under the account name (the Exchange account).

This is after the other account has already finished syncing successfully.  And I can touch the manual sync icon and it'll sync successfully almost immediately.

Just went through a half hour with a fail, two good syncs, and a fail, all ten minutes apart.

I've got a phone in front of me, with an Office 365 account and 4 IMAP and 1 POP3 account and they sync concurrently (three at a time) with no issues, three at a time, on WiFi or mobile data, in the background every 15 minutes (or manually).

So it would help me to see a debug log showing the failure (link below).
