AquaMail and Android Wear
« on: November 18, 2015, 11:16:57 pm »
Hello,
sorry, I am a German user and write only by Google translator.

I have a Huawei Watch with Android Wear and an Android Smartphone LG G3.

On the G3 Aqua Mail is installed as a full version. From this I get to the Huawei Watch sent the e-mails and can also read there far.

For longer emails but it is so, that is no longer displayed after a few lines of text.

After several attempts it turned out that this must be due to AqualMail because the same messages can be displayed completely via the GMail app.

This is known and is described here which can be optionally fixed in a Update?

If you need screenshots, then please inform me.

Best regards

Robbie

If I understand your request correctly the problem is that email text will be shown only a few lines on the Huawei watch.

I just don't understand what it means to show emails "completely" on a 2" screen.

A smart watch is fine for short messages, or if you can get the idea from the first few lines (enough to decide what to do with a message) -- but expecting to read messages there in their entirety seems like a strange idea to me...

Hello und thanks for your answers,

whether now 2 inches or more does not really matter. On a SmartWatch you can not just read the news but also respond directly above it.

And in order to properly respond to, I need to know what is exactly so.

And you can read the text in full on a SmartWatch has the advantage that you do not always take the smartphone from his pocket and the text can also be read without attracting attention.

It's true, Smart Watches are not as widespread, but there is always more and more. And you can read the email text completely, and even the GMail app shows.

If such a function at Aqua mail is not possible or is inserted in the future, then I would have probably separated from Aqua Mail, unfortunately. So far I like always Aqua mail recommended in all Smartphone forums as the best mail app.

There is a way to respond from the watch, and voice input is supported too.

But message text previews in notifications (on the phone or a smart watch) will remain limited, being previews.

And why can I read text with the app GMail the complete mail? There is no limited text, I can read the full Mail text. So it has to go, only Aqua mail would need to be adjusted.

I'm not saying it could not be done.

I'm saying -- I don't understand the value, and don't think a watch can be made to operate like a phone does.

I see smart watches as *companion* devices to *phones*.

And then when you say that Gmail shows *complete mail*:

- What happens if message text is 50 kilobytes? 100 kilobytes? 500 kilobytes?

- What happens if message text has formatting? Bold, italic, font sizes? Tables?

- What happens if message text uses "responsive markup" (CSS media queries, based on screen size)?

Oh wait, Gmail ignores CSS media queries, but speaking of AquaMail -- should message text be fitted to the phone screen's width? to the watch's width (probably making it unreadable)?

- What happens if message text has embedded / linked images?

In view of the above, do you still think that a smart watch is just like a phone only smaller (but who cares, you have good eyesight)?

Kostya,
My request is to be able to read the full message text even in the phones notifications.
That should be possible with a small modification of AquaMail ...
... relax again. It was just a joke  8)

Re: read the full message text even in the phones notifications

Status bar notifications can't display text of arbitrary length.

Not to mention tables, CSS and images :)

OK; but I give it up. If you can not understand or comprehend it, which one also on a SmartWatch (at least the text) wants to read his full mails, it's how it is.
And since I apparently the only one here am currently who wants it, then it will probably interest you rather little.
Then remains for me still GMail.

What I'm saying is -- your definition of "full mails" is flawed.

So even if I show "more text just like Gmail" -- you or someone else will still be unhappy:

- Where is the formatting?

- Where are the tables?

- Why can't you open a link in a web browser?

- "Images missing in messages, help, help!!!"

- "Please see attached screenshot" -- "attachments are missing, help, help!!!"

And so on and so forth.

That's certainly no ignorance of users requests. But please accept that there are "technical" limitations. Kostya has this already explained - in detail and well-founded:

Thank you for your understanding.

Do you have an Android Wear SmartWatch? If so, then test it yourself with GMail. If not, then please consider making you, because then you can not tell.
