Transferring Pro from HTC1 to Sony Xperia Z5
« on: October 29, 2015, 07:29:18 pm »
Hi, I am sure this topic is covered but I don't seem to be able to transfer Aqua Mail settings and content from HTC to Sony.

I have Aqua Mail Pro installed on the new device - do I now need to enter all 3 account passwords etc as I first did when I got aqua mail 3 years ago or is there a way of taking all the info and settings directly from HTC to Experia?

I have tried to back up the data on the HTC, seems to have put itself in PDF viewer - is this any good?  Where should it go if not?  How do I then get it onto Sony? HTC doesn't have removable SD card as far as am aware so can't put on there and transfer to Sony that way.

Any help on simplest way to do this would be appreciated.  Step by step if possible as not a computer whizz I'm afraid.

Please use Menu -> Backup & Restore on the old phone, making backup, and then restore on the new one.

It's a single encrypted file containing all your account and folder settings, and app settings.

You can transfer the file using a file manager (it's in a folder called "backup/AquaMail" off of the device's large built-in storage) -- or you can let the app upload to / download from a cloud sync service (Drive, Box, OneDrive, Dropbox). You'll see a checkbox for that when making backup, after you press Backup, when the app prompts you for the password.

When I go to back up/restore I have a button that says FOLDER.

I click this button but I don't see a folder called backup/aquamail to select and I cannot see an option to let me upload to a cloud service.

I am happy to transfer the file onto a PC before restoring it to new phone but I can't see a way to do it.

Just in case: it would be "aquamail" inside the folder ... actually, I suspect it's inside the folder "backups" (not "backup").

If you connect your phone to your PC with the original (data-transfer capable) USB cable you would be able to transfer files using Windows' "Explorer" in a manner similar to how you copy files within Windows.
If you haven't done so, you need to install the phone-device manager for both of your phones first, according to the instructions specific to each of your phones.
If you are uncomfortable with that, - you might find it easier using one of the cloud storage solutions that Kostya mentioned. All those storage places offer free space that will be more than sufficient for your needs.

To see a cloud service you should be connected to this respective cloud service app with a valid account on your device during this process.

Therefore you have to start the respective cloud service app(s) before using the backup/restore function.

Attaching screenshots.

The "copy to" is in the password prompt dialog (when backing backup).

Then on the new device, use "copy from".

And yes, you will need to set up your fave cloud service on the new phone prior to using the "copy from".

Thanks for the replys and help guys.

Have managed to set up the 3 accounts but for some reason emails no longer seem to be syncing quite as quickly as they used to on old phone.

Previously if you were sat at desk mobile device would generally receive an email shortly before outlook.  Now there seems to be a delay and in some cases they only arrive in mobile inbox after a refresh.

I have my settings to check every ten minutes, to enable IMAP instant delivery, system auto sync setting etc - anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks

Did you enable push mail at *the account level*?

It's off by default (although should have transferred).

Please see the FAQ for how to check this setting.
